Western Skies Strategies is accepting proposals for a remote, contracted (~10-15 hours per week) Content Creator for clients in the fields of agriculture, natural resources, and rural communities. Successful candidates will play an active role in implementing communication and social media strategies for multiple clients. This will include managing new and existing programs/initiatives/events, assisting in content development and messaging, and maintaining a consistent and active social media presence for clients.

Our clients currently utilize Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn social media platforms. Other platforms regularly used include Mailchimp, Canva and Adobe Creative Suite products. All functions of this position will be done in coordination with WSS staff.

Every day, our team successfully carries out projects that enhance and improve production agriculture, resource management, small businesses and rural communities across the U.S. We have team members based in Washington, D.C., California, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, and Oregon.

Essential Functions

General Responsibilities

  • Develop a broad and consistent content strategy with specific vision and goals for each client’s social media platform.
  • Establish a regular social media calendar, with a steady stream of on-going content that has ample time for review and calendar flexibility as needed.
  • Create, schedule and share posts across all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), monitoring channels, responding to comments, and actively engaging with followers.
  • Collaborate with WSS staff to create compelling content and identify platform specific strategies to drive engagement on social media; pulling social media content from long- form writing and composing original content.
  • Compose timely, engaging, and original visual graphics for client websites, social media channels and print materials as needed.
  • Assist in development of video form content for social media, including reels, short films, and advertisements.
  • Craft strategic, cohesive messaging across print and digital platforms.
  • In coordination with WSS staff, develop promotional content and communications strategy to amplify key events.
  • Assist with paid social media campaigns by creating assets and monitoring performance results.
  • Implement tracking metrics to determine effectiveness and provide monthly reports. o In coordination with WSS staff, develop social media campaigns with relevant partners
  • targeted at growing audiences and increasing engagement.
  • o Develop and execute innovative ways of proactively reaching and engaging client community members and developing valuable user content.

 

Specialized Projects

  • Assist in evaluating, identifying, and implementing emerging social media tools for the promotion of the new Good Grazing Makes Cent$ program, developing the initial social media strategy for the program.
  • Apply the above responsibilities to “Good Grazing Makes Cent$”; assisting in content creation of key messaging, converting long form content into short form social media highlights.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Social Media experience, including a portfolio of work that shows your ability to create highly engaging social media content.
  • General understanding of rural communities, agriculture, ranching, rangeland management and related fields.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suites, Canva, etc.
  • Strong understanding of the social media landscape (best practices, metrics and trends).
  • Strong communication skills for both internal and external audiences
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, consistently meet deadlines, and be flexible.
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading, and creative writing skills.
  • Excellent computer proficiency.
  • Experience with video editing is preferred.

Compensation

Accepting Proposals on a monthly stipend basis.
